So there are some pictures. We are all very sick here, my mom, Keir, and Jen had it last week and this week it is my turn.
Big news, Keir has gotten a proper bed, no more crib for him. The reason... he can now climb outof his crib (not good). I don't think 16 month olds are supposed to be able to do that! He must mave some Sipderman blood in him!

-New Look-

Yeah, I decided to change things up a bit. I designed this layout myself. It was bit of a learning expereince. Tell if you like it, and any mistakes you see. I already see a few!

-Happy Birthday-

Today is my brother Neal's birthday. Happy Birthday Neal. Neal is currently living in Montreal attending Dawson College, he is enrolled in the Professional Photography Course. Neal has always had a special talent for photography and seems to be truley enjoying himself back in school. If I get a chance I will scan some of the photos he has given us and you will see what I mean.
Other news:
Keir is a little sick this week, a runny nose, but he did go and meet (with Jen) everyone at his home daycare. He will be starting his daycare tomorrow (thursday). Both Jen and I know that he will love it. Keir is an amazingly social little boy. I am not sure where he gets it from, both Jen and I are pretty quite people. This makes me think more and more that you really do come into this world with a clean slate. Is behaviour really all learned or are you just the way you are because you were "born that way"? I don't know but like with all thigns the truth probably lies somewhere in the middle.

Now for the begging portiton of the update...
Could someone please click one of the "Google Adds" on the sidebar, you may or may not have noticed them. I just have to see if they work. They won't be anything bad, they might even be helpful.

-Snow-

Well we got a big snow storm yesterday, I think it was something like 20cm of snow in the past two days. And as any good Canadian knows when the snow falls you have to shovel it. Last night I started to shovel the driveway. Keir came outside with me to help me, help is a kind way of putting it. It was funny to watch, Keir would pick up the fresh snow and try to eat it! At first I tried to stop him from eating the snow, but he was very persitant and by the end of the half an hour he had help me by eating a significant amount of snow!
Keir really seems to enjoy being outdoors in the snow. He runs around, rolls around and yes even eats the snow. He must take that from his father!
Other big news, Keir will be going to a daycare provider 2 days a week. This should be lots of fun for Keir, as he really is a social little boy.
He is going for a test run on Monday, so we will see how it goes.

-So you think you are tough-

I had to post this, I read an article in the paper on the weekend about this marathon called the Jungfrau Marathon. It is not enough that your are running a marathon but to add a little extra something the Jungfrau Marathon goes up a Mountain in the Swiss Alps. Total climbing from start to finish... 1829 METRES!

Last years winner did it in just under 3hrs!
This marathon is amazing, the only way I think that I could finsh it would be if my lungs and body was surgically replaced with those from 3 time Ironman Hawaii (and Canadian) winner Peter Reid

-Tuesday is Boy's Day-

Jen works late on tuesday night, so it is just the boys. I managed to feed Keir but I did get him a little dirty.

We tried to stay up until Jen got home but Keir fell asleep on my lap.

I always enjoy tuesday night, when it is just the boys. I know Jen misses him a lot but it is nice that we get to spend some time just the two of us.
I had a nice weekend, it was actually my birthday on Sunday. I turned 30, I am not sure what 30 is supposed to feel like but I don't feel 30. I will write more about turning 30 when I have had a little more time to think about it.

-Slacker-

So I haven't written in a couple of days, I have been real busy. Thanks To the people who have commented and even suggested books (Pascale). I also have some books in mind. After watching Oprah last week (yes I watched Oprah) with Lance Armstrong I really would like to read his books: "Every Second Counts" and "It is not about the Bike". I have always found him very interesting. Athletically I know enough about him already, but I think I would find his books extremely interesting. There is also another book by someone affiliated with Lance that would like to read. It is called "Chris Carmichael's Food for Fitness". Yes that might not be as exciting as a nice mystery novel, but I am very interested in the two main things in that book covers: Food and Fitness. Chris Carmichael is Lance's coach and has been with him throughout the past I would be very interested in hearing his thoughts on Nutrition. Betcha he isn't an Atkins advocate. I think I heard heard somewhere that Tour de France riders eat somethign like 6~7,000 calories a day during the Tour and there are a LOT of CARBS involved!.
Keir is great, he was giving me kisses the other night. It was too cute unfortunatly Jen was at work so no one could get any photos.

-A little explination-

Today I thought that expand on yesterday's post. I probably didn't explain (very well) my idea to read more an write more often. The whole idea is an exercise for me. I know I am not dumb but just as in almost anything; if you don't practice and constantly use the particular skill it will deteriorate.
It was pointed out to me that there is a couple of spelling errors in yesterdays post. I knew there would be, but I didn't use any spell check for a reason. Yesterday's post is meant as a bench mark. I want to be able to look back at yesterday's post to see if my writing skills have improved. So I can promise you that you will see more spelling mistakes, hopefully there will be less and less as this exercise continues. However I am hoping that you will also see an improvement in the content of the posts.
Anyways just trying to clear things up for everybody (including me).

-It has been a while-

Well so much for my promise to keep this thing up to date more often! It has been a couple of days since I last posted.
Keir is saying more and more words, he imitates words that you say to him. The other day he said "Hi". Also his back teeth appear to be coming in and with that we have had a couple of interupted sleep nights.
I am going to go of on a different direction with a bit of an announcement.
I have come to the conclusion that I need to read more. Those of you that know me probably know that I don't read. In the last ten years I can count on 1 hand the number of books I have read. It is weird because both my mom and dad both read a lot and Jen reads a whole lot also. I have have also come to the conclusion that I am not a good writer. My spelling is horible, my grammar is just as bad, and I have a hard time articulating my thoughts both oral and written (more so written). My lack of reading and horrible writing skils are obviously linked. In an effort to improve this I have started to try and read 0.5hrs a night and I am going to be writting a whole lot more in this web site.
So there will still be the Keir updates but you also might see a little more ramblings about thoughts I have (or don't have). So bare with me, feel free to comment on what I am saying in my writings or just point at your screen an laugh. I may run out of things to write about or you may see more "..the weather today" posts, but I think the process will be an important one for me in learning a little more about myself.

Jen went out to visit her friend Michelle on Monday. Michelle and Andy just welcomed a beautiful baby girl named Brooke into the world. Here is a picture of Keir, Brokke, and Kaylee. All three mothers work at Jen's dental office. It has been a baby boom at the office recently.

-Weekend Fun-
Had lots of fun this weekend. Got to go out for a skate on the Rideau Canal. We went out on Sunday it was a beautiful day, the canal was very busy as it was the first nice weekend we have had in a while. The Canal was in great condition.

After the skate we went to a nearby pub for lunch. At lunch Keir learned a new trick. Drinking his dad's water from a straw, he was very pleased with himself. Keir was great in the pub, he just sat and watched as many people as he could. He must get that from me!

-Pictures, we want pictures!-
I thought i would post a couple of pictures seeing as I haven't done that in some time.
Keir's hair is growing very well, he is his little mullet. Some people might ask what is a mullet? This is a MULLET
I mentioned Keir going outside to play in the snow, here he is all dressed up looking like the Stay Puff Marsh-Mallow Man. He still manages to be surprisingly nimble with all those clothes on.
I just like this last picture, it is Keir in the tub with his ducky on deck. That thing in his mouth is his toothbrush. He has almost mastered brushing his teeth, almost....

-Snowboy-
Well in an effort to keep up with my promise from the previous post, I am posting again today.
Last was fun; Jen and I along with Keir in his trailer, went for a walk last night. After the walk we let Keir play outside in front of the house. Keir real does like playing outside and is fascinated with the snow. We even had him sliding down the snow banks in our drive-way. I will have to get some photos, maybe tonight.

In other scientific news, it is very cold at 5:30am in January in Canada. I went for a run this morning and it was cold, I didn't even bother looking at the temperature. Once you got moving it wasn't so bad.

-What was I doing?-
Ever feel like your forgeting something? Oh yeah the blog site!!! So I haven't updated in a long time. It has been a very hectic last month, work, not-work, and everything else has been out of control.
Keir is doing great since the last update. Running around as happy as ever. He tries to verbalize everything, you can tell he really wants to talk. No words yet just lots of ooo's and ahhhh's and other sounds.
Jen was sick last week and it really knocked her down (she even took a day of work, that means she must have been really sick), Keir also got a little bit of Jen's bug but he was only affected for a couple of days and seems to be over it and back to his normal self.
As for me, I am so busy with work right now that I always feel like I am forgeting something. I got back into the pool and am swimming once a week. Still doing lots of x-country skiing.
I promise to be better at updating this site, hey that almost sounded like a New Year's resolution. Only a month late, better than never I guess.

-Holiday!-
Well X-mas has come and gone for another year. This year was really special because it was Keir's first X-mas, second actually but last year he was just a month old. As you can expect Keir was spoiled pretty good. He really enjoyed all his gifts.
It started off bright and early in the morning at our house were he saw his main gift from his parents. It was a chalk board/easle for him to draw on.
He also got a phone , here he is opening it and then the phone in use. A big gift was the kid sized table and chairs form Big Granny H Those photos were from my parents place were we spent X-mas morning. We also had breakfast there
After that we came back to our house and Jen's mom and dad came over in the afternoon. So it was more gifts for Keir:
Among some of the gifts he got was a music set. After all the gifts were opened we had everyone over for X-mas dinner. It was a really nice meal, and as usual I ate far to much.
On boxing day we went in Jen's parents place for a brunch with Jen's side of the family. Here is my favorite picture from that day. It is of Keir being chased by his older cousins William and Scarlett. The kids had a LOT of fun with each other.

-Happy Holidays-

I am officially on holidays until Jan 3rd 2005. Jen is done this thursday, so it is just Keir and I for the next 2 days. We went for a ski this morning, well I skiied and he slept while I towed him, and right now Keir is down for his afternoon nap.
All of Keir X-mas shopping is done, I hope he likes what "Santa" got him.
Anyway I am really looking foprward to X-mas and spending time together as a family.
I probably won't post till after Boxing day so whereever you are....

-Hello, anybody there?-
OK so I am a little busy right now and haven't had a chance to post anything in over a month. We did have a party for Keir's birthday, there was cake and gifts and Keir really liked seeing everybody. I am amazed how social Keir is, he really does enjoy being around other people. I was a little worried that the party situation might be a little overwhelming for him. But he enjoy every minute of it. He even tried some of his cake!
I have lots of new pictures but I haven't uploaded them yet.
I will have some down time over the X-mas holidays. I am taking almost 2 weeks off. It will be nice to spend that much time with Keir and Jen.
We have been doing lots of X-country skiing, as we have gotten lots of snow here over the last couple of weeks.
I promise I will get lots more photos up in the coming weeks.
