Well here it is: the Hardie family Xmas tree version 06. We finally broke down and got a new tree stand. We had been using a OLD stand from the 70's that a co-worker gave to me back when we lived in our apartment.

santa_parade06_2
Waiting for the parade again. I thought this was pretty typical Canadian look, the heads tilted up to be able to see out of the hats.

Here is Jen's mom, Keir (Red suit in back), and Keir's cousins Alice (on Jen's mom lap), Holly (in Blue), William, and Scarlett waiting for the parade to start

"May the force be with you"
Here is Keir and I with Star Wars masks that we got him for his birthday party.
Keir turned 3 years old on the 16th. Unfortunatly I was away at a conference so I was not able to celebrate it with Jen and Keir. I got to talk to Keir in the morning of his birthday, so that was nice.
Once I was back we had Keir's party on the weekend, it was a small party with both sets of grandparents, GG (great grandmother), Keirs cousins and Aunt and Uncle Herrington.
Keir had a great time and was very excited to see everyone.
More pictures posted below.

halloween06_1
So last night was Halloween. Keir was a lion as you can see from the picture. He is roaring for the camera in the picture.
Keir had loads of fun trick or treat. Last year we went out but he really didn't know what was happening.
This year was different, I had to hold him back from running house to house. he was only scared at one house that had a big witch on the steps.
Trick or Treat!

access_card
Here is Keir's first ID card. It is our City's Access card. It lets him get into all the city's public facilities like swimming pools, librairies, etc.
We have been swimming at the new pool that has opened near our house. Keir is loving the pool.

-Update-
Well i realized that I haven't actually written anything in here for a while. Lots of pics but no writting. So let's fix that. Everyone is doing well, Keir is on summer holidays from his daycare. The daycare closes down for July and August. SO Gran Hardie has filled in admirably for the month of July and now Gran Herrington is watching Keir for two weeks and then Jen and I will be on holidays. Summer here has been Very Hot! As a result we have been trying to get up to the cottage as much as possible. Keir loves it at the cottage and really likes in the water. He is "swimmming" (with a life jacket) without any assitance for short distances(see the pic).
Keir is also very verbal now and is talking in sentances and has no problem telling us what he is thinking!
Both Jen and I are looking forward to our time off at the end of the month and getting to spend some time togther as a family.
That is all for now
Take care

-triing-
Last weekend I did my first trithlon of the season. It was the Ottawa Riker Keeper Olympic Distance Triathlon. This was also my first Olympic Distance. Olympic (or International) is 1500m swim 40km Bike and 10km run. I had a lot of fun, the swim was interesting... the morning was actually a little stormy and the wind made some strong waves. The swim was three laps and going out was very diffcult as you were going into the waves and wind. The first lap was diffcult but by the third lap I was actually feeling good. 34min was my swim time (including my transition, change from swim to bike), I was a little disapointed with that time but considering the conditions I will take it. On to the bike, I felt good my calfves were a little tight. I started to make up ground on the people who had passed me on the swim. Finished the bike 1hr12min. The run went well, I could have pushed a little harder on the first 3km's but it was a learning experiences. I finshed 46mins for the run and a total time of 2hr 33mins, 39th overall. I really did learn a lot and know what I need to work on for the next triathlon in August.
The are some photos below and you can see some more here at the photo services website
Keir had fun watching dad and actually wanted to follow me into the water!!

-RUGBY-
So on Wednesday, my Dad and I went out to watch Scotland play Canada in Rugby. It was part of the Barclays Churchill Cup. It is an invitation tournament put on by Rugby Canada and USA Rugby, they invite different teams each year. This year in pool A was England, Scotlan and Canada in pool B in was Ireland, New Zeland, and USA. Most of the country don't send their top squad except USA and Canada. The idea is that the teams get experience and Canada and USA top teams also can play a "competitive" team.
Anways, it was a great game Scotland won 15-10. The Canadian were unlucky to not win, they carried the play in the second half and if it wasn't for a couple of dropped balls they could have had a couple of tries.
My dad and I both enjoyed it very much.

Man I am slacking...
Again I have let a couple of weeks go between posts. I got to get back on track.
Anyways, update time: Keir is doing great. His vocabulary and speaking skills are really growing everyday. He is speaking in sentances, he also seems to be a bit of a song bird. We catch him regularly breaking out into songs. His current favorite is "Itsy bitsy spider".
The basement is finished and we are enjoying it. It has been very hot the past couple of days, and the basement stays nice and cool.
Last sunday(may 28th) I finished the National Capital Marathon. I missed my goal time by a one minute and 30 seconds. My time was 3hrs 21min 30sec, but it was very hot and humid on race day so I was happy to finish so close to my goal time, I passed a lot of people who were walking as the heat had gotten to them.

Been a while since I put up any photos, so there is a couple of new ones below (also of the finished basement).
In this photo Keir is sharing his cookie with his teddy bear (Neal if you are reading this you might reconize the bear, Keir borrowed it one day while he was over at my parents place!).
We thought it was very nice that Keir was sharing...
